Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been asked to run for President of the All Progressives Congress, APC, against Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Leader.
Some Nigerians made the statement in response to Osinbajo’s statement that he will shortly launch his candidacy for President.
A top Presidency source told DAILY POST yesterday that Osinbajo would officially declare his candidacy for the presidency in 2023 on Saturday.
There have been rumors that the Vice President may announce his candidacy for President in 2023 soon.
The Vice President’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, has previously stated that his principal would soon inform Nigerians of his intention to run for President.
Nigerians reacted by expressing hope that the Vice President will face off against Tinubu in the party’s primary election.
The following are some of the tweets that were gathered:
“I’d want to see Osinbajo enter the presidential campaign and fight for the APC ticket at the party’s next primary election,” says @Aduratomi.
“We need an Osinbajo presidency in Nigeria,” says @Dadimiyato, “and I expect him to launch his candidacy on Saturday.” “We require his services.”
@Musamusa: “I expect the Vice President to declare his candidacy for President on Saturday and face off against Tinubu and others.” He possesses the necessary skills to change the tide for Nigerians. Take a look at the time he was in command of the country; things improved.”
“We don’t need Osinbajo, Tinubu, and all those Northern folks; what Nigeria needs right now is an Igbo President,” says @Nellychukwu. We are part of Nigeria, hence the Southeast should be allowed to reign. These folks should pave the path for an Igbo presidency because we are not second-class citizens of Nigeria.”
