Following the release of his long-awaited album, “Art & Worship,” acclaimed South African singer and songwriter Khaya Mthethwa has been showered with flowers.
Tweeps are praising him for his incredible voice and for reviving gospel music in the country following the release of his 13-track album on Friday, October 14.
The album follows his 2018 release, All About Jesus, which was a huge success. Khaya stated on his Facebook page that he does not need awards to validate his hard work.
“I’ve worked hard over the years. Proved myself and really done what resonates with my heart and purpose to worry or be validated by awards. I am too old,” he captioned a post.

Sizwe Miya commented “Yes sir ,some go to the extent of constantly bragging about awards but never be bragging about soul winning or making a difference in people’s lives.
Speaking to Drum, Khaya said he hopes the album will resonate with other people who are going through similar experiences. “I am hoping that I am not just telling my story but that I get to echo what is happening in other people’s lives. As a worship leader, you have to be in tune with everyone’s heart around you,” said Mthethwa.
It’s been two years of challenges but God saw me through! I’m grateful to be alive, to be smiling and I’m blessed to share my experiences through music. Tomorrow my new album #ArtAndWorship comes out and I hope it’ll help you reflect and see God is right where you are! pic.twitter.com/GLoCaM46BP

Promised to give feedback on #ArtAndWorship:
1. FINALLY a project without millions of arrangements! Made songs simple & easy to listen
2. Many sing-alongs and potential hits (Avulekile, Outpouring, End of the Story, Bheka Uthando, I give you me)
3. Versatile (AfroBeats addition) pic.twitter.com/1CNK2DZZxO
